This is a narrative short film that I wrote, produced and directed. It is a surreal horror fantasy set in a parallel and frightening world.
Completed in 2018 it was shown in December at The Horse Hospital as part of Exploding Cinema.

This documentary invites you into a world you might not have known existed. Marah, Betty, Noor and Mona are members of an all-woman speed racing team, the first in the Arabic world. Team manager Maysoon is based with them in Palestine and we get to see not only the exciting world of racing but the realities of life under occupation.
Having already picked up a slew of awards and now selected for the Oscar shortlist (see the others nominated below), Stutterer is a film about a young man with a speech impediment looking for love. Ironically Greenwood works as a typographer and loves words, he just can’t seem to get them out when he needs them. With a generous budget (for a short) of 5k the film stars Matthew Needham in the main role and has very high production values.
The first episode of the first series of American Horror Story made me so scared I had to turn it off and wait for my then boyfriend to get home to watch it with me. S1 was full of excellent scares but ended with a whisper instead of a bang; I don’t think the series has ever quite reached the same heights but it does throw up some interesting settings but alas this show now in its 5th season has always been a bit hit and miss in this way; some episodes are better than others and some series are better than others. Rather worryingly with AHS: Freak Show it is at its worst – the law of diminishing returns is in full swing.
A gang of young eastern European men and boys hang around the Gare du Nord in Paris looking for marks; seemingly acting as prostitutes there is more to their designs on the clients than getting a few euros for sex. Daniel (Olivier Rabourdin) is a lonely businessman who takes a shine to Marek (Kirill Emelyanov) but his initial plan gets twisted and it has life changing consequences for them both.
This release on DVD and Blu-ray is part of Network Distributing’s ‘The British Film’ collection. I recall watching this on TV as a child and being pretty impressed, how would I find it decades later and post-Cameron (James not David)?
